Adventurous Day

This weekend was the last Tobin and I had together before he leaves on a rotation for a month. So we decided to make the most of our Saturday. We actually left Corvallis for the Oregon Coast to go to a Joann Fabric store (long story), but I needed a specific fabric. Anyways, the day turned into an adventure stopping when we wanted, taking our time, etc. It was amazing!

Depart from Corvallis 9:30 am.
1st stop: Amazingly, my husband takes care of me and we stopped of a soy white mocha at the Starbucks in Newport. Yummy!

2nd Stop: Cape Foulweather, where we saw several whales!

3rd stop: Depoe Bay, OR. Where we watched the waves come in.
Then we got some salt water taffy!
Yummy!
4th Stop: Joann Fabric, and we got some fabric for the chair I'm reupholstering!

After that, we decided to keep driving north. My parents are at a family conference north of Tillamook, so we got in touch with them, and decided to meet them at Tillamook Cheese Factory.

The day was beautiful. We drove most of the way with the sunroof open!

5th stop: Lunch at The Pacific Shore. We found out about it on Yelp.
I was excited to find they had gluten free options.
So we shared GF Fish & Chips.
Not only was it GF,
it was probably the best fish & chips Tobin & I have ever had!

6th Stop: The farm?? No Tillamook Cheese Factory!
I didn't get a photo of my parents, but they were there.
And they spoiled us with AMAZING Tillamook Ice Cream.
Yes, we were more than well fed this day.
See the new Farmer and his cow?

7th Stop: Siletz Bay

Well, it turned into meet part of the Miller Family for the day. My brother and his family were staying at a cabin near Lincoln City in Siletz Bay. So Tobin (the great fisherman) had brought his rod, and he taught Grace and Benjamin how to cast. Didn't catch anything, but got a couple bites.

"What's that do?"

Just like this.

Gracie having fun too!

First cast. He did great!

The sun was out and it was pretty!

Zoey and I watchin' in on the fun.
She had found a Newt that morning, and decided it was her friend.
I'm convinced she is going to be a biologist.
Anyways, we kept looking for frogs and newts, but didn't find any!

Looking for those Newts!
It was pretty and green!

Grace and I on another adventure.

What a beautiful day!
Thank you God!

Various "sports" in the front yard.
Some form of baseball, and golf.
It was quite a dangerous place to be!
Grandma lovin' Maggie time.

Porter deciding to start a band!

It is so great living closer to family. So in the last few months, we all decided to try and make a more intentional time to see one another once a month. Here are a few photos from those events:

Yard Fun (not work)!

We've been trying to get outside, when isn't not a slogging downpour. Here is what we've been up to:

Trying to grow some herbs, we'll see if the deer find them first!

We also have been literally WRESTLING with Ivy!
